What's Something That You and a Cockroach Have In Common?

December 8, 2017

Do you know what you might have in common with this lovely cockroach?  It’s the bad bacteria in your gut (small intestines) that protects itself using the same structural substance that’s in the shell of a cockroach.

That substance is called Chitin (pronounced like “kite” with an “n” on the end) and this little bacteria in your microbiome just LOVES sugar and antibiotics to help it grow and make you miserable.

How can the presence of this nasty little bacteria manifest itself in your body?  It could appear in the form of:

  • Frequent stomach discomfort and digestion problems

  • Intense cravings for sugars, sweets, and breads (that’s its food!)

  • Skin problems (e.g. itchy skin)

  • Trouble concentrating

  • Constant tiredness and exhaustion

  • Mood swings and/or bouts of sadness

  • Anxiousness, irritability and/or anger outbursts

  • Headaches

  • Autoimmune issues

Just like roaches, you definitely want to get rid of them!!

The right combination of probiotics and enzymes are the “exterminators” for chitin in your gut, but most probiotics don’t have the necessary enzymes to break through this tough, structural substance.   To do so, you need a probiotic with the enzyme Chitosanase, that can break through the chitin and kill the harmful yeast so that the intestines can better absorb the probiotics — allowing your gut to be restored to a healthy state.

You can read more about a great probiotic that has this combination here.
